Residents created the Bay Area Historical Society (BAHS) in 1986 to collect, preserve and disseminate knowledge about the history of the Bay Area (Silver Bay, Beaver Bay, and the surrounding area) and to relate it to the history of Lake County and the State of Minnesota.

The society maintains a museum, souvenir shop and visitor information center at 80 Outer Drive in Silver Bay, Minnesota. The building is open during the summer season from Memorial Day through September. Regular hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am until 4 pm.  The Society’s presentation of its physical collection is revolving as our space is limited and we are committed to increasing our online access. Please revisit our website for updates.
